Mar 5, 2018 · I want to create shape around Europe especially for France. But I'm not really sure how to do it as I am new in QGIS. Can I get any good suggestion for this task? I'm attaching a picture which shows what I actually want. As it is presented yellow line shows the shape which we made using QGIS and I want to do the same thing around France.

Here is an example of country and provincial boundaries with a raster layer overlay. I just want the underlying shape map with boundaries, no colors/data/raster stuff overlaid.

Is there a source for historical shapefiles of Europe in the modern era, i.e. starting ca. 1400? I know that "where can I find historic border data" questions were asked multiple times but I couldn't find an answer to my specific question.
