More "real estate" on the Lowrance screen as it's 480x480 square and the 'Bird is 640X480 and narrower across Both highly reliable and accurate units - and frankly you can't go wrong with either - I prefer the A-Scope Sonar of the Lowrance and the added accuracy of the 'Bird's GPS plotting ....

My next step is to mount the gps receiver. I have looked through all the installation instructions, and cannot find any mention of mounting the receiver.

Feb 22, 2013 · After 5 years you might as well start shopping for a new one. I had 2 lowrance unit go bad after years of service. 1 the backblight would not work. 130 to fix it and the gps went bad the following summer. They r kinda like cars. Jan 28, 2007 · JJ Mac. The M-68 is basically an X-67 with a gps. The downside to the gps is that it does not have upgradable mapping capability. If you are considering getting it because of the gps, you would be better off with a handheld and then get and x-67 or go with a true multifunction unit like the lms 337.

May 13, 2020 · Lowrance Hook 7 screen problem. I put together a small project to boat to use on local lakes and ponds because my big boat is on a dock on Lake Erie. I tried out my new (to me) Lowrance Hook 7 that I bought used off a guy for a pretty cheap price. It reads the depth, and the SOG speed fine, but the screen looks pretty gnarly.

Nov 27, 2018 · For anyone that has a Lowrance HDS Gen 2 unit and installed the fix that this thread talks about - the GPS functionality is no longer working as of April 7 2019. In order to get the GPS functionality back you have to install an older version of the software.

It's only a 5 inch screen, but the fish don't care. I use cheap handheld GPS mounted next to it to make the most of the screen for sonar.
