Let's say 30 days from now. So if you plant now, since they're not day-length sensitive, but they are temperature sensitive and will sprout faster because it's warmer than May, you'd be getting first harvest at the end of August. You'd have, at best, probably a month of harvesting before they're done for by frost.

I once grew Tarahumara Pink Green beans on a 17' pole. They went to the top and over before breaking the pole. For really tall growers one generally just puts up a sturdy support about as high as they can reach. The beans will go up and over, doing "loop d' loops" on the available support. Glad you got some seed and kudos for offering to share!

wayne_5 zone 6a Central Indiana. Most bush green beans have a period of about 3 weeks where they put out a lot of nice beans. After a couple of weeks choice quality, they begin to bear shorter, more curved, and knobbier beans. Some varieties after a short rest and extra rain may begin to put on a second life of decent beans.

To cook green beans, I use a Black&Decker or Oster electric food steamer. They are under $30 at Target, K-Mart, Wal-Mart, etc. Easy 12-15 minutes from frozen state to crisp fresh, 10-12 minutes from fresh harvest to the dinner table.

For some reason, this seems to be more common in beans started as transplants. If the cotyledons emerged but no leaves, they may have broken off underground. This can occur if the beans are planted too deeply and/or the soil is too hard. When this happens, you can dig where the sprout emerged, and find the broken stem & missing leaves.
