relatively fuel efficient (anything over 20 MPG is good it seems) reliable. relatively comfortable to drive daily. not crazy expensive to buy or maintain. has 4wd with reasonable ground clearance. ideally has space to sleep in the back of the vehicle.

Excellent mileage (20 mpg for 2017, 35 mpg for 2022) holds a lot more, easier access, more comfortable, more maneuverable than most if not all cited and it will tow 3500 lbs (2022 model). Not as clunky looking as the huge 4WD vehicles mentioned. 3rd Gen 4Runner.

Apr 1, 2022 · I found a 4Runner for sale for just $15k - it had over 300k miles on it though. Prices on those vehicles are insane right now. Look for Lexus LX 470s. Typically a bit cheaper than Land Cruiser 100s as a result of their hydraulic suspension (which you can replace for $1.5k), but the same car underneath.

Mar 3, 2021 · I could go through ravines, go past other vehicles on the trail, and go between trees. Getting a Nissan unstuck with another Nissan is easier than getting an Excursion unstuck by itself. You can have friendly competitions, more drivers can have fun, you can switch vehicles, etc. Toyotas would put me over 10k.
