Randy Halprin was part of a group of escaped prisoners who broke out of the Connally Unit, a Texas prison, in 2000 and while on the run, fatally shot police officer Aubrey Hawkins.

Randy Halprin, a member of the “Texas 7,” is set for a new trial because of judicial bias. He and six others escaped prison in 2000 and killed a police officer. The trial date is pending.
