The Indian stock market benchmark indices, Sensex and Nifty 50, settled down in red on Tuesday, November 26, 2024.

The two key equity benchmark indices, Sensex and Nifty, on Thursday plunged sharply owing to a weakness in the global markets. At the end of the session, the BSE Sensex tanked 1,190 points to 79,043.

According to the exchange data, Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) sold equities amounting to Rs 11,756.25 crore and Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) bought equities amounting to Rs 8,718.30 crore respectively on the previous trading day.

Indian markets ended in green on Friday, buoyed by gains in heavyweight Reliance Industries, Bharti Airtel and pharma stocks, with the Nifty index closing about 1% higher this week.

The Nifty 50 ended the session with a gain of 0.91%, closing at 24,131, while the Sensex rallied by 0.91%, finishing at 79,760. However, the broader markets underperformed the benchmark indices.

Indian stock markets show resilience with Sensex up 0.87% and Nifty up 0.82%, telecom and pharma stocks lead gains.

Indian equity benchmark indices, BSE Sensex and Nifty50, surged in trade on Friday a day after plunging sharply. While the BSE Sensex moved up over 700 points, Nifty50 reclaimed 24,100.

Bharti Airtel surged 3.82 per cent to Rs 1,620. Sun Pharma advanced 2.87 per cent to Rs 1,784 while Mahindra & Mahindra added 2.32 per cent to Rs 2,963 apiece. Larsen & Toubro, RIL and JSW Steel gained up to 2 per cent.
