NCP (SP) legislative party leader to be chosen in a joint meeting of members of the legislative assembly and the legislative council

At the meeting, it was also decided to demand election through ballot paper instead of EVMs. Party members also raised concerns about the increase in the voting by percentage point after 5pm on the day of assembly elections.

Announcing the appointments, NCP (SP) state president Jayant Patil stated that his party has not decided it's legislative party leader in the meeting and that can be done during the assembly session. One of the 10 MLAs, Sandeep Kshirsagar from Beed, didn't attend the meeting due to prior engagement.

Nationalist Congress Party (NCP-SCP) leader Jitendra Awhad has raised serious allegations against the Election Commission of India (ECI), accusing it of erasing crucial data from the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) used in the recent Maharashtra Assembly elections.

The Mumbra-Kalwa assembly constituency was created in 2008 after delimitation. This seat has been represented by Awhad since 2009. It is a part of the Kalyan Lok Sabha constituency, represented by chief minister Eknath Shinde's son Shrikant Shinde.

However, to everyone's surprise the contest turned one-sided as Nationalist Congress Party Sharad Pawar faction's Jitendra Awhad defeated NCP (AP)'s Najeeb Mulla with a huge margin.
