The ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon appears to be holding, raising hopes of a lasting respite after a 13-month border conflict that spiraled into an all-out war in September.

BEIRUT — At least two people were wounded by Israeli fire in southern Lebanon on Thursday, according to state media. The Israeli military said it had fired at people trying to return to certain areas on the second day of a ceasefire with the Hezbollah militant group.

Israel said on Thursday that its ceasefire with Hezbollah was breached hours after Lebanese security sources said Israeli tanks attacked six areas of southern Lebanon, calling into question a truce reached after more than a year of fighting.
