Lindsey Vonn's role at the FIS Alpine World Cup races at Beaver Creek, Colorado is now known. The Queen of Speed and 82-time World Cup winner will not be racing on the Birds of Prey race course, but will instead be serving as a forerunner before each race this weekend on the famed course.

When Vonn left the tour, she had 82 World Cup wins — the record for a woman at the time and within reach of the all-time Alpine mark of 86 held by Swedish standout Ingemar Stenmark. The women’s record held by Vonn was eclipsed in January 2023 by Mikaela Shiffrin, whose 99 wins are more than any Alpine ski racer in the history of the sport.

Lindsey Vonn finished 24th in a lower-level FIS downhill race on Saturday as she returned from retirement to compete for the first time in nearly six years.
