The detection of bird flu in raw milk again highlights safety concerns about a practice promoted by social media influencers and right-wing figures, including Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

State health officials secured a voluntary recall of all remaining Raw Farm milk and cream products. The products are infected with live bird flu virus.

"Drinking or accidentally inhaling raw milk containing bird flu virus may lead to illness," California's public health department said. "In addition, touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands after touching raw milk with bird flu virus may also lead to infection."

As bird flu test results come back from agencies, the state's agriculture department instructs raw milk producer Raw Farm to withhold distribution of products.

The raw food batch in question comes from Fresno County, and California health officials detected Avian influenza, or H5N1 Bird Flu, and called for a voluntary recall.

Bird flu has spread among U.S. dairy cattle since March, and has infected nearly 500 herds in California, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Public health officials have warned against consuming raw milk because it can carry pathogens,

According to a November 27 alert by the California health department, officials in Santa Clara County found evidence of bird flu virus in retail samples of a batch of Raw Farm's milk, which has been recalled.
