Britain plans to replace its 1-pound coin with a new version modelled on the country's historic threepenny piece, finance minister George Osborne will announce later on Wednesday.

He stated: "Next is an old round pound coin from 2016 with the shield design. Only 38,000 of these coins were minted, making it rare and worth around £30 today to collectors.
