Rockefeller Center Tree Lighting is set for a chilly Wednesday night in midtown Manhattan. While Christmas and holiday decorations have been showing up in New York City over the past few weeks, none represents the start of the season and spirit of NYC than the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree.

Brian Thompson, 50, was fatally shot Wednesday morning around 6:45 a.m. on the street near the Hilton hotel in Midtown, NYPD said.
