Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili called the government illegitimate on Saturday and said she would not leave office when her term ends next month, as the prime minister said the state would not allow a revolution to take place.

Georgia's pro-Western president has said she will stay in post until new parliamentary elections are held, as protests continue over the government's decision to put EU accession negotiations on hold.

The Georgian government has lost sight of why the revolution erupted in Ukraine, comments Dr. Wojciech Konończuk from the Centre for Eastern Studies, following the Georgian government's announcement of its decision to halt negotiations with the European Union until 2028.
