More than 18 million registered voters are expected to cast their ballots on December 7. Despite a tight race for the presidency, analysts expect a peaceful outcome.

In an expected close contest between the ruling New Patriotic Party's (NPP) Mahamudu Bawumia, the current vice-president, and former president John Dramani Mahama of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) party, the votes of cocoa farmers could be decisive. And many of them are angry.

Ghanaians are set to vote on Dec. 7 for a new president to replace Nana Akufo-Addo, who has served the maximum two terms.

Apart from the Eastern and Western regions, which have been excluded in Monday's Special Voting exercise for Election 2024, voting is underway in all other polling centres in the remaining 14 regions.
