It's the first time that Marshall and the Golden Eagles have met in football since 2018 and the Thundering Herd is searching for its first win in Hattiesburg since 2014 after dropping the last three in the series.

The last three weeks have been tumultuous for the Golden Eagles. Ex-head coach Will Hall was fired after a 44-28 home loss to Arkansas State. Assistant Head Coach/General Manager Reed Stringer was appointed interim head coach and guided the Golden Eagles during a 32-15 loss at James Madison on October 26. Southern Miss was off last week.

The Thundering Herd charged past Southern Mississippi, 37-3, at M.M. Roberts Stadium in Hattiesburg to end an eight-game road skid, achieve its sixth win to become bowl eligible and stay in the hunt for a Sun Belt Conference East Division title.

The Thundering Herd (6-3, 4-1 Sun Belt) led by two touchdowns at the half, doubled its lead in the third quarter and generated four turnovers on the defensive side while holding the Golden Eagles to 183 yards of total offense and 1-14 on third downs Saturday afternoon.
