According to Deadline, Wicked is now the highest-grossing movie based on a Broadway musical domestically, reaching $214.3M in domestic box office grosses as of Friday, November 29th.

While Wicked doesn’t alter major plot points of the musical, it does expand upon characters, their backstories, and relationships. That’s one of the big reasons why the film is split in two, with part one being just as long as the musical’s entirety.
