Raleigh police say officers responded to the shooting early Saturday morning. The victim died from her injuries.

The suspect was taken into custody in a traffic stop near York about 20 miles from the crime scene, deputies said.

The shooting happened before 6 a.m. The victim died after being taken away for treatment, York County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Trent Faris said. The area is close to I-77 Exit 90 near the North Carolina state line behind a Circle K gas station off Carowinds Boulevard.
