The first images of banknotes featuring Britain's King Charles III were unveiled on Tuesday by the Bank of England. Charles' portrait will appear on English notes of £5, £10, £20 and £50.

Many young people are among those suggesting new themes for the biggest redesign of banknotes in 50 years.

It’s also the first time the bank has changed the monarch on its notes. Images of the new banknote were first announced in 2022. Charles’ portrait appears on notes of £5, £10, £20 and £50.

The Queen was the first monarch to feature on British bank notes after the Treasury gave the central bank permission to use her image for a new 1 pound note issued in 1960.
