SUNRISE, Fla. -- Joey Daccord made 26 saves, and the Seattle Kraken defeated the Florida Panthers 2-1 at Amerant Bank Arena on Saturday. Kaapo Kakko and Jared McCann scored for the Kraken (25-29-4). Shane Wright had two assists.
Jared McCann scored the go-ahead goal early in the third period and the Seattle Kraken held on to beat the Florida Panthers 2-1.
Making his NHL debut at age 28, Kraken goaltender Ales Stezka held the Lightning to one goal until halfway through the third period Sunday but received little goal support in a 4-1 loss.
After not one but two failed zone clear attempts by the Panthers, one by Gus Forsling and another by Jesper Boqvist, Kappo Kakko found himself with the puck and plenty of space in the left circle, cutting to the net and sliding the puck under Sergei Bobrovsky to give Seattle a 1-0 lead.
Playing against his former team, Jared McCann scored the go-ahead goal with 12:57 left in the third period as the visiting Seattle Kraken upset the Florida Panthers 2-1 on Saturday night.
The Seattle Kraken continue their road trip with a battle against the Tampa Bay Lightning and will do so with Ales Stezka in between the pipes.
The Seattle Kraken have recalled goaltender Nikke Kokko from the Coachella Valley Firebirds and have reassigned Ales Stezka and Cale Fleury.
