While most of the attention has been paid to the incredible snow making machine coming off Lake Ontario, the cold air that has been one of the factors in the Lake Effect showers, the cold air is going to be around through the week ahead.

In the longer term, temperatures will drop significantly, ushering in the coldest air of the season by the weekend. Snow showers are expected to persist through Friday night, especially in areas prone to lake effect activity. The weather will gradually stabilize as high pressure builds over the region, bringing drier conditions by Sunday.
