The latest effort is seemingly cooking away within the walls of Ubisoft, as a new report from Insider Gaming suggests that the company is hard at work on a new social-sim project by the codename of 'Alterra'. It's said to be inspired by Animal Crossing while utilising a voxel-based visual setup (think The Touryst and you'll be on the right track).

A new leak has revealed that Ubisoft is working on a cozy game born from a canceled project, seemingly mixing concepts from Animal Crossing and Minecraft.

The unannounced Ubisoft project looks to combine elements from Nintendo's popular franchise alongside Minecraft.

Citing anonymous sources, the site claims the game shares much in common with Nintendo's Animal Crossing — each player has a home island inhabited by critters called Matterlings. You'll be able to visit other islands; each will be in a different biome and feature different Matterlings, resources, enemies, and so on.
