The CDC declared the E coli outbreak linked to McDonald's Quarter Pounders over after 104 cases across 14 states and at least one death.

Both the CDC and FDA have said that the E. coli outbreak tied to slivered onions on Quarter Pounders no longer poses a risk to the public.

Federal health agencies closed their investigations into the bacterial outbreak that sickened 104 people and was linked to onions on the fast-food chain’s signature Quarter Pounders.

The FDA, which conducted the investigation along with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and state health departments, linked the outbreak to yellow onions distributed by California-based Taylor Farms and served raw on Quarter Pounders at McDonald’s restaurants in Colorado, Kansas, Wyoming and other states.

St. Louis County said there were 115 local cases of E. coli, 13 hospitalizations and three cases of a serious condition that can damage kidneys.
