Where is Hurricane Erin? Rip currents, rough surf making Florida beaches dangerous
Erin weakened more overnight, with maximum sustained winds down to 100 mph. It remains a Category 2 hurricane, down from its peak as a Category 5 storm with 160-mph winds Aug. 16. Dangerous rip currents are expected along U.S. east coast beaches from Florida to Canada.
In May, Florida beaches took national rankings on “best beaches” lists, including Dr. Beach’s highly-anticipated 34th annual list of the best public beaches in the U.S.
The vast majority of those beaches on the list — 14 to be precise — can all be found right here in the Sunshine State. Below are the Florida beaches that managed to find their way onto the list.
