Delhi Police Economic Offences Wing has arrested a family member of BharatPe co-founder Ashneer Grover in connection with the alleged misappropriation of funds with the fintech company, police officials said on Friday. Deepak Gupta, who is a brother-in-law of Grover, was arrested on Friday, they said.

The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Delhi Police has arrested Grover's brother-in-law, Deepak Gupta, adding a fresh twist to the current legal struggle between BharatPe and its expelled co-founder Ashneer Grover.

The arrest resulted after a complaint from Resilient Innovations Pvt Ltd (BharatPe) was registered at police station EOW.

Deepak Gupta, the former Head of Procurement, who is married to the sister of Madhuri Grover (wife of former BharatPe managing director Ashneer Grover), was taken into custody on the evening of September 19.

Deepak Gupta, brother-in-law of Ashneer Grover, is accused of instructing vendor Amit Kumar Bansal, who was arrested this year for alleged association with a number of vendors at the centre of the alleged embezzlement of funds from the company.
