Following Sony’s shock decision to haul live service hero shooter Concord offline, its game director has reportedly stepped down with some staff concerned about the future of the studio.

Concord's director moved to a lower, supportive position, and the Firewalk Studio team has concerns about the future of both the project and the team.

It’s been two weeks since Firewalk took Concord offline, and only about a month since the shooter launched in the first place. Things have obviously not gone well, and if the latest reports from Kotaku and Games Industry are any indication, they’re still not.

The ripples from Concord’s seismic implosion are still fanning out since Sony decided to take the game offline earlier this month. Now, the game’s director has reportedly decided to bow out gracefully.

Concord's cancelation may lead to layoffs at Firewalk Studio and a potential studio shutdown. Concord is undoubtedly one of the biggest unmitigated disasters in recent gaming history. Not only did the title flop in international markets, but Sony also decided to pull the plug on the project just days after its initial launch.

A Kotaku report says Concord game director Ryan Ellis has stepped down from his position at Firewalk Studios, and will take on a "support role" instead. Three sources told the site that Ellis, a former director on Destiny 2 who left Bungie in 2016 and founded Firewalk in 2018,
