The depleted Brooklyn Nets played without key forward Cam Johnson against the Chicago Bulls. Johnson was sidelined by a sprained left ankle.

Prior to Monday's game at the Chicago Bills, the Brooklyn Nets said that Cam Johnson (ankle) is out. Center Day'Ron Sharpe makes his season debut.

Cam Johnson was the latest Net to sustain an injury, exiting Monday's matchup with the Warriors after rolling his ankle.

It’s been something I’ve been dealing with the last year-and-a-half,” Simmons said. “So yeah, just got to monitor it, stay on it.”

Outside of Johnson, 23-year-old Cam Thomas is starting to establish himself as one of the best young scorers, while 31-year-old Dennis Schroder is having a terrific year on an expiring contract that will surely generate trade interest the closer we get to February.

Already deprived of much of their size, the shorthanded Nets will be without Ben Simmons on Monday in Chicago, though they’re hopeful of having Cam Johnson. Simmons left Sunday’s loss to Orlando with a knee contusion and Johnson checked out with 18 seconds left after injuring his left ankle.

The Brooklyn Nets’ shorthanded offense was dealt another blow on Sunday. With Cam Thomas sidelined by a hamstring strain, Cam Johnson rolled his left ankle during the final minute of a 100-93 loss to the Orlando Magic.
