There are several kinds of trees in the Skiatook area that have thorns. This note describes four of them. Black locust, Callery pear, chittamwood and Osage orange.

Most wild plum bushes reach the height of 5 to 7 feet. The bark on the trunks of the shrubs is shiny gray while the branches might have a few stout shoots that approach thorns.
