Jocelyn Moran reports. San Jose city leaders recently helped plant nearly 30 trees in the Calle Willow neighborhood, but many of them have since been damaged by a vandal, according to police.

San Jose’s tree coverage has dropped dramatically over the years. From 2012 to 2018, the city lost nearly three square miles of trees — a 1.5% overall drop in tree canopy.
