A scaled-down replica of the Statue of Liberty that has retraced the journey made over a century ago by its big sister was erected on Ellis Island in New York Harbor on Thursday.

In 1877, President Ulysses S. Grant signed a bill designating Bedloe’s Island, which is federal property, as the statue’s site. Ultimately, Cleveland spoke at the statue’s unveiling in 1886.
