Starbucks announced Monday it will lay off over 1,000 corporate workers and cut complex and unpopular drinks from its menu in an effort to turn around lagging sales and revamp the coffee chain.

Starbucks is shaking up its menu this spring. On March 4, the coffee chain will remove 13 less popular drinks from its menu, the company told TODAY.com.

In a Tuesday earnings call, Starbucks CEO Brian Niccol said the coffee giant will cut 30% of its menu offerings this year as it streamlines service.
