The Veterans Health Administration (VHA), which is the VA branch that cares for ailing vets, spent more than half its funding between 2004 and 2009 on post-9/11 troops with PTSD and/or TBI.

This is the Warrior Canine Connection, a Maryland-based nonprofit which uses the pups as therapy for troops to overcome PTSD and TBI by teaching them to train and foster the dogs.

Nearly 350,000 military personnel have suffered some form of Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) since 2000, according to the National Institute of Health.
