40 years ago this month, the first PC that used the MSX platform launched. It was very popular in many markets outside the US, and Microsoft even had a small but important role in its development.

The oyster parasite MSX has been detected in more prominent oyster growing and harvesting areas on P.E.I., says the Canadian Food Inspection Agency.

MSX threatens to severely affect P.E.I.'s oyster industry, but one part of the solution could be breeding mollusks that are resistant to the disease.

The single-celled MSX has been wreaking havoc on oysters for about 60 years. It was first found in Delaware Bay, near New Jersey, in 1957 and was detected in Bras d'Or Lake, Nova Scotia, in 2002.
