JEFF DAVIS COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) - The Jeff Davis community is preparing to welcome home Master Sergeant Luther Grace, a Korean War veteran who has finally been accounted for after 75 years.
Atheras, one of the few Korean War veterans left at VFW Post 2342 in Fort Lee, said he was. “She said, ‘Thank you for giving me a country that I can go back to,’” Atheras recalled.
The commemoration will feature various speakers and will welcome all veterans and the public. During the Korean War, which lasted from June 25, 1950, to July 27, 1953, nearly 37,000 lives were lost.
