After Benton Harbor, Michigan-based Whirlpool Corp. announced its plans to acquire Mount Pleasant-based manufacturer InSinkErator in August, the $3 billion deal has officially closed.

InSinkErator has established an international presence that reaches nearly 80 countries, with subsidiaries in Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Mexico, New Zealand and the United Kingdom.

InSinkErator is written on the front of the power module. The switches were sold with a chrome, white, or satin nickel button/bezel as an accessory for garbage disposals.
