The 54-year-old has been a hip disarticulation amputee since 2008 when a high school football player crashed into the trainer, according to Delaware Online.

Aspden was born with a congenital hip disarticulation and without a left leg. She began swimming at age 4, competitively at age 8 and was on her first national team at age 13.
