AMG GT R has set a record lap of the Nürburgring for rear-drive sports cars, posting a lap time of seven minutes, 10.9 seconds. The test was conducted by the German magazine sport auto.

As previously reported, the 2018 AMG GT R is powered by a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 making 577 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque, 74 hp and 37 lb-ft more than the Mercedes-AMG GT S.

All versions of the GT have 4-liter V8 engines, ranging in power from 476 for the base model to 585 HP for this GT R. Meanwhile, the GT 63 S 4-door makes 639 HP from the same V8, plus it has AWD.
