William Martin’s arrest comes after Fort Worth residents demanded that he be held accountable for his actions, saying the shooting is part of a pattern of “aggressive behavior.”

Fort Worth police say Martin did a “jail walkthrough" on Friday, meaning he walked in with his attorney to turn himself in, was fingerprinted, posted bond and walked out. He did not spend any time detained.

The officer, who has been with the Fort Worth PD for 19 years, was off duty on Sept. 3 when he shot a man who he claimed was trying to ram him with his vehicle after a hit-and-run.
