The system is expected to strengthen, reaching wind speeds of 50–61 kph with gusts of up to 75–88 kph by 4 a.m. Wednesday, when it will be about 240 km east-southeast of the Hoang Sa Islands.

Typhoon Man-yi crossed central Philippines to enter the East Sea Sunday night, packing winds of up to 149 km per hour, and is forecast to weaken into a tropical depression off Vietnam's central coast.
