In a significant boost to India's freight & logistics infrastructure, a first double stack container train was flagged off on Tuesday from Hind Terminals Logistics Park in Palwal.

Every so often, we passed a two-mile-long double-stack container train, carrying more than 200 imported boxes from the port at Prince Rupert to cities in the east.

The double-stack train can save transport costs and increase carrying capacity by more than 30 percent compared with the traditional single container train, according to sources with the port.
