The culvert, an old hollowed out fuel tank installed 50 years ago, was ripped out by the rushing water and pushed vertically, eventually standing straight up in the creek bed.

WSDOT closed SR 510 in Thurston County due to a failed culvert. There's no reopening time yet. Drivers should expect delays and find alternate routes.
