Right-click the Shutdown shortcut and select Properties. Under the Shortcut tab, click the Change Icon button. In the Change Icon dialog box, choose the icon you like and click OK.

To change an individual desktop icon, right-click the shortcut icon, select "Properties," and navigate to the "Shortcut" tab. Click "Change Icon," then browse through the available icons.
