Emory University said it had an active shooter on its Atlanta campus. The school advised people to avoid the area and shelter in place in a post on its website Friday night. It lifted the shelter in place order roughly an hour later but said a police emergency was ongoing.

CNN is reporting that the shooter "appeared to target CDC headquarters" in the active shooting. The gunman is dead, Atlanta police previously confirmed. Initially, it appeared that the shooting was targeting Emory University. However, Monarez revealed that the gunman opened fire on CDC buildings.
