A Delta airplane carrying 282 passengers and 13 crew members from Madrid to New York was forced to land on an island in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean on July 6 due to a mechanical issues.

The 282 passengers and 13 crew members aboard Delta flight 127, en route from Madrid to New York's John F Kennedy airport, found themselves landing on the island of Terceira in the Azores last Sunday.

NEW YORK -- Passengers are speaking out after their flight was forced to make an emergency landing on a small remote island in the middle of the ocean earlier this week. "People were crying.

Passengers were stuck on Terceira, part of the Portuguese island chain, the Azores, for more than a day. The airline sent another A330 from New York to pick up the passengers.
