TAMPA -- Tom Wilson broke a tie with 3:26 remaining, and the Washington Capitals scored three goals in the third period to rally for a 5-4 win against the Tampa Bay Lightning at Amalie Arena on Wednesday.

TAMPA — Despite having their goaltender shoot the puck into his own net and needing to erase a late deficit against a postseason regular, the Washington Capitals outlasted the Tampa Bay Lightning on Wednesday night, posting a wild 5-4 victory at Amalie Arena to sweep their two-game Florida road trip.

In case you missed it last night, Washington Capitals goaltender Charlie Lindgren had an all-time gaffe when he absolutely buried a puck in his own net (read below for last night's full report). The good news is that the team stuck with it and came back to beat the Tampa Bay Lightning, despite Lindgren's enormous mistake.

It was a bit of a rough start to action in Tampa for the Capitals, who found themselves outshot and being dominated by the Lightning's top talent early. Despite a couple of good shifts in the first, sloppy play and turnovers would lead to scoring chances aplenty for Tampa, and ultimately, it cost D.C.
