The push to restore power to homes and a young man who died during Storm Éowyn lead the front pages.

Emergency crews are cleaning up after a storm bearing record-breaking winds left at least one person dead and more than a million without power across the island of Ireland and Scotland

The storm had knocked out power to more than half a million utility customers by early Friday as it moved across Ireland.

Theatres across Scotland were forced to cancel performances due to Storm Eowyn on Friday. A rare red weather warning was issued by the Met Office for Northern Ireland and central and South West Scotland in anticipation of 100mph winds, with the public urged to stay at home from 10am until 5pm.

Disruption is continuing after Storm Eowyn battered Scotland, claiming one life and leaving thousands without power. On Sunday evening around 16,000 properties were still without electricity as power companies worked to restore supplies after the storm on Friday.

Ferries, flights and rail services have been shut down across Scotland as a large part of the country braces for the arrival of a violent storm. Winds of up to 100mph are forecast during Storm Éowyn with a large part of Scotland's central belt and the south west under a red "danger to life" weather warning.
