Supervisors on Wednesday voted unanimously in favor of a two-year lease for American Airlines at McClellan-Palomar Airport, one of eight operated by the county's Department of Public Works.

The San Diego County Board of Supervisors punted a vote on who will succeed Nora Vargas as chair after competing motions to elevate either Terra Lawson-Remer or Jim Desmond to the role failed in votes down partisan lines.

Lawson-Remer, officially vice chair, nominated herself to succeed former District 1 Supervisor Nora Vargas. With the departure of Vargas, a Democrat, the board's current make-up is two Democrats (Lawson-Remer and Montgomery Steppe) and two Republicans (Anderson and Desmond).

Terra Lawson-Remer will continue as acting chair of the San Diego County Board of Supervisors, after a vote Tuesday to pick a new leader failed.

Monday was the last day in office for San Diego County Board of Supervisors Chairwoman Nora Vargas and a handful of elected officials are competing for her seat.
