LAS VEGAS — The fourth week of Raiders training camp was an eventful one, between joint practice and a preseason game with the San Francisco 49ers. With roster decisions on the horizon and the start of the season less than a month away, time is running short to work through the remaining questions.
The Raiders' receiving corps are pretty thin, in stark contrast to Smith's Seahawks days when he had D.K. Metcalf, Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Tyler Lockett at his disposal. In Vegas, it's pretty much Jakobi Meyers and a bunch of unproven players at the position, which will make things difficult for Smith.
Jake Moody made a 59-yard field goal as time expired for the 49ers (1-1). He also converted a 44-yarder with 37 seconds remaining to tie the game, and then Jaylen Mahoney intercepted Raiders quarterback Cam Miller to set up the winner.
After playing just one series against the Seahawks, Smith logged two possessions against the 49ers and played well. He completed 6-of-8 passes for 55 yards and led two scoring drives. He was accurate, displayed his ability to make throws into tight windows and showed he trusts his teammates to make contested grabs.
