A 12-year-old boy stole his grandfather’s vehicle and drove about 160 miles over a mountain freeway in Washington before deputies caught him on the day before Thanksgiving, according to a sheriff’s office.

MOSES LAKE, Wash. — A 12-year-old boy from the Issaquah area is accused of stealing his grandfather’s car and driving it to Eastern Washington. The Grant County Sheriff’s Office says Issaquah police called them Wednesday, asking them to keep an eye out for the boy. They said he might be heading to the Moses Lake area.

A 12-year-old boy stole his grandpa’s car and took it on a 160-mile joyride in Washington, deputies said. The boy was reported with the vehicle Nov. 27 in Issaquah, the Grant County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post. Police told Grant County deputies the boy had a connection to Moses Lake and may be headed that way.

The boy, who has not been identified, led police on a brief pursuit after being spotted with the stolen vehicle.

According to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office, no one was injured in the chase and damage to the vehicle was described as “minimal"
