Multiple subway lines suspended service in Manhattan just ahead of the evening rush — and as the holiday travel rush was already underway — due to a water main break, according to officials.

A water main break on the Upper West Side disrupted subway service on the busy B and C lines Wednesday afternoon. A and D service was also impacted.

Rescue crews evacuated passenger from at least one stranded subway train Wednesday afternoon after a watermain break on the Upper West Side brought service in the MTA B and C subway trains to a halt and severely curtailed service on both the A and D lines.
