NEW YORK — Devils center Jack Hughes didn’t understand what MSG analyst Steve Valiquette meant when he called out Hughes for trying to “embarrass” Rangers goalie Igor Shesterkin during the Devils’ 5-1 win at Madison Square Garden on Monday night.

Jesper Bratt had a goal and three assists, Jack Hughes scored twice and Jacob Markstrom made 39 saves as the New Jersey Devils beat the New York Rangers 5-1.

The Rangers were dominated by the New Jersey Devils from beginning to end in the first installment of the Hudson River Rivalry on Monday night at Madison Square Garden.
